Update

We had our weekly appointment this morning and everything went okay. My weight is the same, blood pressure was great, I measured 42cm, and Jack's heartbeat was fantastic...he was moving a lot while they were listening and it got up to 170 a couple of times, but on average it was 145. He checked me and I am now 60% effaced and 1cm dialated. He stripped my membranes (which is not fun) and said that hopefully that will help move things along, it is a more natural way to help labor get started rather than medicine. While he was checking me he said he could feel Jack's head!! If the membrane stripping doesn't work, but I make any progress between now and next week then he will induce me Thursday or Friday of next week. So once again we are waiting....

Well...

It has been a little while since I last posted, but I didn't really have any new information. We did have our doctors appointment last week but no new news. I measured 41cm, he estimated Jack to be at least 8lbs and he is still head down. My blood pressure was initally waayyy up and that got a little hairy. People were rushing around, talking about calling the hospital and all kinds of tests. We were getting a little freaked out, but after waiting a while they look it again and it was back down. So they sent us on our way. He did hint that he thought he would see me back before my next app. on the 28th which would mean no c-section and I sure hope so because check out this belly....

We have been walking at least 3 miles every evening not only trying to help move things along but to hopefully help with the recovery afterwards. So we will see...hopefully I will be posting again before Tuesday...we will see...

C-Section it is....

We went back to the docotor today, 7/14, and I measured 40cm!!! I knew that my tummy was growing and growing, but yikes! So they did do the growth scan and Jack weighs 7lbs 4oz at 35 weeks 6 days and he was measuring 38 weeks. So by their precentage chart Jack is considered "Large for gestational age" go figure. Dr. McIlveen already told us that if it looked like Jack was going to be 10lbs or more then we would have a c-section. It is not safe for him to induce before 39 weeks unless I am dialated because Jack may not be ready more specfically his lungs would not be ready. After the scan he said that Jack would be at least 10lbs if not a little more...(please remember Dustin weighed 11lbs 13oz when he was born). So unless I go into labor before, then at 39 weeks we will have a scheduled c-section. He did check me and my cervix is still closed but I am 50% effaced!

During the ultrasound we were able to see that Jack is head down, but still face up. This also concerned the doctor, because of Jack being large he probably will not have room to turn all the way over. So even if I go into labor now, if Jack does not turn we will still have to have a c-section. He was laying with his knees up by his bellybutton and his feet in my rib cage (comfy!) We did get to see his little face in 3D again, and although there isn't much room left, (his face is crammed against my uterus) we got a pretty good shot! He definately has a "plug" nose!! He was so cute and his little cheeks were all plump and squeezable! We also got to see him practicing breathing!

So in about 2.5 weeks we will have our little or well not so little Jack Nolan here with us! We can't wait!!

June 30

The past week has been miserable! I feel like my tummy has tripled in size! I had to move my seat back in my car a notch to make room for me and Jack, and we had to ask for a table rather than a booth at Outback, so depressing. And my wonderful husband has now taken on the role of putting on my shoes. Then we went to our doctors appointment yesterday and my concerns were confirmed! I haven't gained any weight, thank goodness...but my tummy measured 36.5 when only a week ago I measured 32.5! Dr. McIlveen flagged my file, concerned that Jack is going to be too big, so next week I will have growth scan to check his size and then we may have to schedule a c-section...bummer. I think it is weird that I haven't gained any weight in about 3 months but Jack is packing on the pounds, literally!! Before he measured me I had asked him about scheduling an induction so we will make sure my mom and sisters are here, and he said that his only concern for doing that is typically caucasian male babies tend to have the latest lung development, and even when full term it often takes them a little longer to take their first breath when delivered, he said they call them, "whimpy white boys" in the delivery room..hehe! So anyway I guess we will know more on the 14th!
