C-Section it is....

We went back to the docotor today, 7/14, and I measured 40cm!!! I knew that my tummy was growing and growing, but yikes! So they did do the growth scan and Jack weighs 7lbs 4oz at 35 weeks 6 days and he was measuring 38 weeks. So by their precentage chart Jack is considered "Large for gestational age" go figure. Dr. McIlveen already told us that if it looked like Jack was going to be 10lbs or more then we would have a c-section. It is not safe for him to induce before 39 weeks unless I am dialated because Jack may not be ready more specfically his lungs would not be ready. After the scan he said that Jack would be at least 10lbs if not a little more...(please remember Dustin weighed 11lbs 13oz when he was born). So unless I go into labor before, then at 39 weeks we will have a scheduled c-section. He did check me and my cervix is still closed but I am 50% effaced!

During the ultrasound we were able to see that Jack is head down, but still face up. This also concerned the doctor, because of Jack being large he probably will not have room to turn all the way over. So even if I go into labor now, if Jack does not turn we will still have to have a c-section. He was laying with his knees up by his bellybutton and his feet in my rib cage (comfy!) We did get to see his little face in 3D again, and although there isn't much room left, (his face is crammed against my uterus) we got a pretty good shot! He definately has a "plug" nose!! He was so cute and his little cheeks were all plump and squeezable! We also got to see him practicing breathing!

So in about 2.5 weeks we will have our little or well not so little Jack Nolan here with us! We can't wait!!

  1. Oh my Lisa 2 and 1/2 weeks that is not long now!! How are you feeling?? I think about you all the time, Mom said that she had talked to Aunt Jo and you were suppose to go to the doctor yesterday - so I kept checking the blog to see when the update would come in. I guess it is better to know in advance and be prepared for a C-Section rather than pushing for days and then having to go the C-Section route. Take care and know that I am thinking about you guys! Love - Sandi
